STARS Driver

Rosemary Janice Black (born 20th May 1996) is an American STARS Lowe's International Series driver from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is best known for winning the 2019 STARS Kobalt Tools Truck Series Championship with the Outlaw Racers Group.

Early Career

Rosemary Black started racing at the tender age of 12 when she raced 50cc Go Karts in Pennsylvania, racing with some notable talents, including son of former KTTS driver Brock Hagerty, Christian Hagerty. Hagerty, Black, & Jeffrey Tyler, a Cherry Hill, NJ native, were nicknamed the "Unholy Trinity" due to their fast pace, but unforgiving racing styles. Black would win several races, and even win the championship of her division in 2006, before moving on to Late Model racing at the age of 17. She would race in late model tours for several years, before getting noticed in 2017 at Oswego Speedway by Darrell Briggs, a former Truck Series champion turned owner. Rosemary Black was approached to drive the #78 truck in 2018 for a limited schedule. Black accepted, and ran her final late model race for the time at the track where she got her start, Williams Grove Speedway.

2018-2019: KTTS Career

Black made her debut for Darrell Briggs Racing in the 2018 Pepsi 100 at New Hampshire International Speedway, where she qualified 18th and finished 17th. Rosemary Black would surprise everyone by getting the pole position for the 2018 K-Love 100 at Nazareth Speedway, and leading 8 laps before getting wrecked out on Lap 14 by Tanner Steele, who was in his rookie season as well. Rosemary would acquire another Top 10 finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the 78 team, impressing many people behind the scenes with Black getting good results out of a less than stellar truck. Black would get one more Top 10 on the year at Chicagoland Speedway, and would struggle to get another decent finish again in 2018. In the off-season, the Darrell Briggs Racing 78 was completely vacated, as Hana Kashima went back to Japan to race touring cars, Neil Ryan returned to monster trucks, and Max Winfield would be signed by Outlaw Racers Group to the 39 truck. Rosemary Black was also approached by Outlaw Racers Group, and signed to drive their #30 truck in 2019.

2019 would start off in rough fashion for Rosemary, as she would crash out early at the New York Autoring, finishing 31st in the race. Rosemary would rebound the next week at Watkins Glen International, getting a 6th place finish on the road course, followed up with a 4th place the next week at New Hampshire International Speedway. A pair of 3rd place finishes at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Orange Show Speedway further pushed the notion that Rosemary Black was on the verge of a breakout. Rosemary would lose in a photo finish to Lilly Samson at Auto Club Speedway, losing by only 0.04 seconds to the #55 truck. Black would pick up a couple more Top 10s before getting into a wreck at Texas World Speedway, going out on Lap 6. Rosemary Black would finally break through to get her first career win in the first Canadian Duel at the Jukasa Motor Speedway, in her 21st career start. She'd quickly follow that up with an absolute domination at Martinsville Speedway a couple of weeks later, leading 74 of the race's 75 laps.

Black would come extremely close to victory once again at Walt Disney World Speedway, in a losing effort to Ryan Jeffries, who would get his first win of 2019. Rosemary would start to go into a bit of a slump heading towards the chase, being a non-factor at Daytona International Speedway, and suffering a camshaft failure the next week at Kansas Speedway. Rosemary would break out of this in the second-to-last race before the chase, passing a dominant Joe Branch, who had led 78 out of 80 laps that night, to win the first of two Live Free or Die Duel 100s at Monadnock Speedway, and getting another Top 10 at Atlanta Motor Speedway to close out the regular season, qualifying for the Chase. Black's chase would start off to a shaky start, after a 21st place finish at New Jersey Motor Speedway, and a crash at the ill-fated race at Grand Detour Raceway, which Rosemary referred to in a post-race interview as a "dumpster fire of a race."

The second round would see Rosemary Black have a return to form, as she would get a 3rd place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway Park, following that up the next week with another 3rd place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, putting Rosemary into top form heading into the final race of the round at Chicagoland Speedway, where she would pick up a 6th place finish to end the round and transfer into the Round of 6. Rosemary's start to the Round of 6 was nothing like her previous form, as a disappointing 23rd place finish at Rockingham Speedway would put her in a tough spot early on. A 13th place finish at Talladega Superspeedway would keep her hopes of making it to the Championship 4 alive. A 12th place finish at Knoxville Raceway would get Rosemary Black into the Final 4, and light an intense focus under Rosemary, who showed no signs of nerves going into her first championship battle in STARS. At Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Rosemary Black would bring her amazing rookie season together, and would win her fourth race of 2019, and the 2019 STARS Kobalt Tools Truck Series championship, at 23 years old. in the off-season, Rosemary would announce that she would be going full time in 2020 with Team Kwik Fit in the Lowe's International Series, after subbing for an injured Dean Donohue for part of 2019.

2019- : LIS Career

Rosemary would get her first taste of STARS Lowe's International Series action after Dean Donohue would get injured in a terrifying crash at Daytona, being called in to fill the #00 Ford for Team Kwik Fit. (To be finished)
